Playing tycoon games without burning out

July 1, 2026 · Lukas Brenner

Tycoon games are dangerous in the nicest way. Skyport Tycoon had me checking my floating airport at breakfast, lunch, and midnight, which is fun until it starts feeling like a second job.

The trick is deciding your own pace instead of letting the timers set it. I now check management sims at fixed points in the day and ignore the little notification badges the rest of the time. The game survives without me hovering.

It also helps to set a goal per session rather than playing until you run out of things to tap. Build one new terminal, balance the budget, done. Leaving with a plan for next time keeps it satisfying.

Management games are marathons, not sprints. Treat them like a slow-cooking pot you stir occasionally, and they stay charming instead of turning into a chore.
